Family Sessions

If you’re like most people, you’ve thought about family portrait photography but it just hasn’t happened. We hear it all the time, we are too busy, I need to have my hair done, my roots are showing, when I lose 10 more kilos, it’s hard to get everyone together, can’t afford it right now… We’ve heard it. Many times. Sadly enough, it just never happens.

Here are some reasons family portrait photography should be an important part of your life. 

Many of us these days have a busy lifestyle and sometimes we forget about our past or this very moment and tend to focus on building our future. Our children grow up fast and before you know it, they have finished Primary School and off to High School, and then BAM, they are packing their bags and moving out of home starting their own adventure. Having professional photos done regularly is a great way to document your family’s growth and changes, it’s a way to remember beautiful moments together.

As much as we don’t want to face it, life happens and things can change and at times without any warning, loved ones pass on and we don’t often realise the importance of family photographs until it is too late. 

Many of us who have lost a loved one, will often go looking for photographs to help us stay connected, this is one of the main reasons I want to photograph families, I too was looking at photographs for a loved one, that loved one was ME!

I was diagnosed with cancer and was told to pre-arrange a funeral, there was very real possibility that I wouldn’t survive my treatment, it wasn’t until looking for photos that I realised that my children wouldn’t have many photos of me to remember me by.

Don’t let you and your family be in this position.

The most important reason to have a family photography session is that photos have the power to relive memories, evoke emotions and remember moments in time. Photos take us back, they are a great way to reminisce, and to stay connected.  They also play a part in our legacy in years to come.

You can’t go back in time and you don’t want the regrets of ‘ I wish we had taken the time to have our photos taken’,  do it for yourself and your children, trust me your children won’t notice the few extra kilos, nor the grey hair, or the smile line that probably you only notice. What they will be is disappointed when they are older and there are no family photos to share with their children.

Each of our family photography sessions are personalised, whether it is a session in the studio or on an agreed location.

We will provide you guidance on how to prepare for your family session, with what to expect and provide guidance on wardrobe choices. Each session is often an hour in duration and is comprised of some formal poses and more natural lifestyle poses, capturing the genuine connections within your family unit.

We discuss relationship dynamics as we understand that getting that balance right is important, capturing the relationships between siblings, or and parents and children or significant others.

These sessions are ideally for your immediate family, but larger family groups can be catered for on request.

During your session you will be gently guided into poses and given direction during your session to make your feel comfortable and relaxed, we aim to make your session fun and uniquely yours.

Your photography session is only the beginning of creating your images. Following your session, an extensive amount of time is spent curating and post-processing the best images to showcase in your gallery.

Within two weeks of your photo shoot, you’ll come back into the studio and we will share the best photos from your session based on lighting, background, focus, pose, facial expressions, and overall appeal and over a light refreshment you will be able select your favourite photos to go into your chosen package.

This is such an important step as you will be able to discuss over your photos and we can even personalise them a little more, so you can get exactly what you want, for example you might like a photo, but that little change would make you love it, I will do my very best to ensure that you love your photos, oh and you will be able to touch and feel all our beautiful samples!

Please understand that we do not release raw files, since they are not a finished product. You're welcome to purchase additional edited digital portraits and prints if you wish to select more than your chosen package.
